International. The Copeland Innovation Lab will drive research and development initiatives in the area of energy-efficient controls for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration applications.
Located in the Italian city of Belluno, the inaugurated infrastructure has an area of 10,000 square feet. According to Copeland's directives, the launch of the lab will help the company anticipate the needs of the global market by developing sustainable solutions for the future.
"The Copeland Innovation Lab will help customers achieve their sustainability goals, which are not only critical to the value we deliver to them, but also critical to the entire planet," said Sandro Matic, president of Copeland Europe. "This launch marks an important milestone in the future of HVAC-R solutions and is a critical component of our effort to enable decarbonization at scale," he added.
In addition to offering sustainable solutions in the area of comfort and food quality, the laboratory itself will have zero impact, as it is self-powered by a photovoltaic system and its integrated electronic solutions use advanced algorithms to ensure high energy savings.
Within the center there are several state-of-the-art rooms, including a laboratory for testing new equipment, a market laboratory with testing of real applications in supermarkets and convenience stores, a climatic chamber for testing equipment in ranges of temperature conditions, an external machine area to house the equipment for the market laboratory and perform tests on real-life applications and a hospitality area for participation and customer training.
In September 2023, Copeland hosted local media for a preview of the facility. Globally, the company has 26 manufacturing facilities and 12 research and development facilities, five of them in Europe.
