Copeland to showcase Vilter refrigeration solutions at IIAR exhibition

Copeland exhibirá soluciones de refrigeración de Vilter en la exposición IIAR

International. Copeland Company provided details on its participation in the International Institute of All-Natural Refrigeration (IIAR) event, to be held March 3-4 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Among the new technologies on display are the Vilter brand industrial-grade transcritical CO2 compressor and, for the first time in North America, the Vilter VQ95 ammonia heat pump. Special educational sessions at the booth will focus on Copeland's commitment to investing in sustainable solutions for industrial heating and cooling applications.

Along with the announcement, the manufacturer said that government regulations and corporate sustainability goals are moving many companies away from hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) with higher GWP, opting for natural and ultra-low GWP refrigerants. In turn, industrial refrigeration end-users and contractors are increasingly adopting new CO2 and ammonia-based compression technologies. At IIAR, Copeland will share new insights into the application of natural refrigerants, including recent research on ideal opportunities for industrial transcritical CO2 systems.

The transcritical and subcritical CO2 compressors, designed around Vilter's durable single-screw compressor platform, enable greater adoption of CO2 in industrial refrigeration. They help contractors and operators of cold storage, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, chemical, and other industrial process applications meet their sustainability goals with simplified design and more cost-effective architecture.

Vilter's robust CO2 single-screw compressor units are designed to allow contractors to field assemble large refrigeration systems at low cost, proving that field-mounted core CO2 systems can be more cost-effective than using multiple racks. Using Copeland's Vilter CO2 single-screw compressors can reduce the number of compressors, pipes, fittings, and pipe length. This simplification reduces complexity, installation costs, and long-term maintenance expense.

Also at IIAR, and for the first time in North America, Copeland will showcase the Vilter VQ95 industrial ammonia heat pump technology. Special educational sessions will be held at the booth to explore how this innovative single-stage heat pump is designed to help decarbonize district heating and industrial process heating applications, including in food and beverage production.

"Copeland has a strong product portfolio for heating and cooling spaces, including CO2 and ammonia-based refrigerants and heat pump solutions," said Michael Gersmeyer, Vilter's senior product manager for Copeland. "These new products reflect our commitment to creating technologies that are better suited to our customers and demonstrate our continued investment in sustainable natural refrigerant technologies."

Educational sessions to be held at Copeland's booth 229 at IIAR include:

  • CO2 Reimagined: How Technology Enables Cost-Effective Installations.
  • Simple, sustainable and scalable: a new approach to high-temperature heat pumps.
  • Ammonia cooling: a timeless solution for a sustainable future.
