Colombia. Focused on sustainability, industrial digitalization and energy storage, Siemens, a global technology company for the electrification, automation and digitalization of industries and critical infrastructures, announces the appointment of Miguel D'Alessio as CEO for Colombia.
This designation marks a strategic step to strengthen the company's presence in key sectors such as HVAC-R, energy storage and smart infrastructure solutions, within the framework of the country's energy transition and digital transformation.
With a strong track record in the industry, D'Alessio previously led the Digital Industries business unit in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay, where he spearheaded high-impact projects in automation and industrial digitalization in sectors such as energy, food and beverage, mining, pharma and automotive.
"I am excited to take on this new challenge in Colombia, a country with extraordinary potential for innovation and sustainable development. My goal is to work together with the great interdisciplinary team that develops the operation in the country to maintain our leading position in the market and contribute to the progress of the local industry," said D'Alessio, CEO Siemens Colombia.
Boosting energy efficiency and storage in critical infrastructures
Colombia is going through a key moment in the evolution of its industrial sectors, where energy storage, efficient HVAC-R systems and the digitalization of energy infrastructure become strategic axes. Siemens, with more than 118 years of operation in the country, has a presence in multiple regions and has an Assembly Workshop in Tenjo, Cundinamarca, where control panels for electrical substations are assembled and tested.
Today its technologies are present in more than 10 thousand production lines and factories in the country. These solutions make it possible to improve energy efficiency, automate industrial refrigeration processes, implement digital twins and provide traceability in critical thermal operations, particularly relevant for sectors such as data centers, health, pharma and food.
Despite a complex economic environment during 2024, Siemens Colombia closed the fiscal year with a growth of 2% compared to the previous year, reflecting market confidence and the resilience of its technological solutions. Sectors such as energy, water, telecommunications, cement, pulp and paper, utilities, HVAC-R and energy storage were a fundamental part of the growth.
2025 Outlook: Renewable Energy, Smart HVAC-R, and Hydrogen Solutions
Siemens Colombia's 2025 strategy identifies key opportunities in:
- Green hydrogen: with solutions for the entire value chain – from electrification to its energy and industrial use – through automation, traceability and control systems.
- Energy storage: aimed at solar and wind projects in regions such as La Guajira, Bolívar and Atlántico, integrating intelligent management to improve energy stability.
- Industrial and hospital HVAC-R: with thermal automation and energy control solutions that reduce consumption, improve air quality and optimize processes.
- Pharma and critical refrigeration: with a focus on traceability, regulatory compliance and operational efficiency, especially in Antioquia, Cundinamarca and Valle del Cauca.
Miguel D'Alessio is an Electronic Engineer from the University of Buenos Aires and has an MBA from ITBA Business School. His arrival at the leadership of Siemens Colombia represents a commitment to accelerate the country's energy transformation, integrating technologies that respond to current demands in efficiency, operational resilience and sustainability.
