El Dorado airport achieves LEED Zero Energy Certification

Dorado

Colombia. El Dorado announced that it has become the first airport in the world to obtain LEED Zero Energy Certification, which is awarded by the U.S. Sustainable Building Council (USGBC), which recognizes the implementation of sustainable practices aimed at reducing the environmental impact of the air terminal.

The LEED Zero Energy Certification highlights the good management and operation of the buildings belonging to the airport, which have achieved high standards of energy efficiency that compensate the consumption of energy from conventional sources with the consumption of alternative energy sources for a period of 12 months.

Natalí Leal, gerente General de Opain"We are proud to be the first airport in the world to receive this recognition, which is the result of our firm commitment to sustainability. We have been implementing practices for several years to achieve adequate energy efficiency for the operation and generation of renewable energy. We will continue to work with the same commitment and dedication to have a better planet," said Natalí Leal, General Manager of Opain, the concessionaire of El Dorado Airport.

In 2019, El Dorado had already been rated as the first airport in the world to obtain LEED certification for Existing Buildings: Operation and Maintenance EB:O+M v4.1 at platinum level.
