International. The company earned the highest rating in both categories for the second year in a row, reaffirming its leadership in corporate sustainability.
Mitsubishi Electric has been recognized by the international organization CDP with the highest rating of the "A-List" in the categories of climate change and water security. This distinction highlights companies with best practices in environmental sustainability and disclosure of corporate impacts. Since 2016, the company has been included seven times in both lists and, for the second year in a row, achieves the highest score in each.
The company has defined clear goals towards carbon neutrality: to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in factories and offices by 2031 and throughout its value chain by 2051. These actions are part of its Environmental and ESG Plan 2025, which also contemplates the reduction of emissions by 2030 in line with the 1.5 °C goal of the Paris Agreement, goals already certified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
Its main strategies include the incorporation of efficient technologies such as air-to-water heat pump systems, the optimization of the use of renewable energy, the development of advanced energy storage systems and the use of IoT technologies to improve industrial processes.
In parallel, Mitsubishi Electric is making progress on its goal of reducing water use in high-risk facilities by 2026. To this end, it has implemented tools such as the Aqueduct Water Risk Atlas, which allows monitoring current and future water threats. It also promotes ozone-based purification technologies to improve water treatment in factories, sewer systems and public facilities.
"To once again receive CDP's top rating is a recognition of Mitsubishi Electric's steadfast commitment to sustainability. It's not just a business goal, it's a fundamental principle that drives our every decision and action globally. We believe that innovation and sustainability must go hand in hand, and that is why we continue to develop solutions that not only reduce our environmental footprint, but also generate a positive impact on society," Mitsubishi Electric points out.
