Colombia. The Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) certification, a system that measures green construction, was awarded at its Platinum level to The El Dorado airport in Colombia, thus becoming the first globally to obtain it and a benchmark for the region.
The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), a non-profit organization, is responsible for reviewing and granting such certification. In this case, it granted the recognition, in its version 4.1, to the air terminal located in the city of Bogotá, due to the efficiency of its operation and maintenance. It is important to note that leed platinum certification is the highest distinction of its kind and is given only to buildings that excel in sustainability.

"Thanks to this certification, we have established ourselves as a world leader for our work in mitigation, care for the environment and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. In projects of energy efficiency, efficient water consumption, proper waste management, quality of the indoor environment, as well as integration with the city, the transport system and innovation".
Details of the rating obtained by El Dorado
According to the parameters of the USGBC, a minimum of 40 to 49 points is necessary to obtain the LEED certification, when you have from 50 to 59 they grant the silver category, from 60 to 79 it grants the Gold and from 80 onwards the Platinum category. Within the qualification achieved by El Dorado, in the evaluation process, he added 82 points out of the 100 possible. These points, which make up the LEED Scorecard, are awarded for compliance in 8 ranges:
-Credits of the integrative process.
-Location and transport.
-Sustainable sites.
-Water efficiency.
-Energy and atmosphere.
-Materials and resources.
-Indoor environmental quality.
-Innovation.
In these categories stand out, due to their high percentage of compliance, innovation with 100%, location and transport with 92.8%, energy and atmosphere with 92%, water efficiency with 80% and indoor environmental quality with 72.7%. Likewise, within the subcategories evaluated, the performance of indoor environmental quality, waste performance, energy performance, water performance and transport performance, were the ones that scored the most points.
