International. Through an open letter, the Asociación de Refrigeración de Ucrania asked the global air conditioning and refrigeration industry for support in the face of Russia's ongoing invasion.
The letter was drafted by the association's president, Serhii Anashkin, who called on HVAC/R equipment and refrigerant manufacturers, as well as industry experts and participants to block the supply of equipment, components and technologies, including IT support, to both Russia and Belarus.
"Refrigeration technologies are used in missiles to cool rocket fuel, missile warheads (magazines), in ships and military equipment to cool their engines and crews, in military warehouses and weapons plants," Anashkin writes.
The leader of the association also called on governments, companies and entrepreneurs around the world to support their country as follows:
- Completely disrupt supply chains to the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus for all HVAC&R equipment; refrigerants and raw materials used in equipment; electronic products and their components; and software for HVAC&R equipment
- To offer any option for humanitarian aid.
- Understand the situation in which Ukrainian companies find themselves and provide the option to defer payment for equipment and components.
- Do not invest in projects related to Russia and Belarus.
"Please help us in this battle for European values and for the territory of Ukraine as an independent country," Anashkin writes. "We will be happy and grateful to those who help us on these issues, and after the war is over, the Ukrainian market will be very promising and attractive for investment, as we will soon be members of the European Union."
