United States. ASHRAE presented its president for the 2017-2018 period, members of the executive committee and directors during its annual conference held from June 24 to 28 in Long Beach, California.
The new president of ASHRAE is Bjarne W. Olesen, a member of ASHRAE. In his inaugural presidential address, Olesen announced that the theme of his term will be "Extending Our Community," during which he will focus on extending the global ASHRAE community, technology horizons, and the total value of ASHRAE members.
"The tremendous amount of volunteer work that happens within ASHRAE is unique compared to other societies," Olesen said. "The time ASHRAE volunteers devote to society is incredible, and the dedication of our 2017-2018 officers will strengthen our society's knowledge base, community outreach, and ability to shape a more sustainable world. I look forward to working with my official colleagues and ASHRAE members this year to extend our global community, adapt to new technologies, and embrace our shared needs and goals."
In addition to serving as president of ASHRAE, Olesen will continue to serve as a professor at the technical university of Denmark. During his tenure, he will also serve as chairman of ASHRAE's board of directors and executive committee.
