Two of the most prestigious universities, one from Japan and one from Algeria, have created the project called "The Sahara Solar Breeder Project" and consists of turning the Sahara desert into the main source of energy on the entire planet.
As we all know the Sahara Desert is the largest in the world, to start with the project plants will be created to manufacture silicon and photovoltaic plants. The energy generated will initially be used to create more plants, then when the plants are large enough and can largely supply everyone, superconducting power distribution lines will be built.
The project is in its early stages and there is already a funding of 5 million euros for the first research, the final objectives are the construction of a 100 gigawatt plant and the first goal of the project is to produce 50% of the energy needed by the world by 2050.
