Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov has unveiled designs for Russia's first hybrid electric car as the government tries to reduce its reliance on conventional fuels. The "Town Car" project features two versions of the hybrid car that includes a compact hatchback and a coupe.
The vehicles have been developed by the Onexim Prokhorov Group and the Russian truck manufacturer Yarovit, and uses special technologies and features for Russia and will be made exclusively from parts made in Russia. Manufacturers promise that the car will cost less and will be able to reach a top speed of 120km/h.
According to the design team, this hybrid car of the future will prove to be as spacious as a BMW Mini Cooper and the electric motors could be housed in the wheels or under the passenger cabin.
