Paraguay. The National Institute of Technology, Standardization and Metrology announced its articulation with the Paraguayan Chamber of Air Conditioning, Refrigeration and Mechanical Ventilation to form the CTN 49 Electromechanical Engineering, Subcommittee on Cold Chain in Food.
To this end, a key meeting was recently held during which both entities put on the table possible courses of action through which to respond to the essential need to normalize refrigeration systems in the South American country.
"The main objective of this initiative is to meet the request of the Chamber that has expressed the imperative need to establish a standard that contemplates the essential requirements for refrigeration systems intended for the cold chain of food products. During the meeting, specific issues were addressed, including the presentation of the arguments of the request and the problems associated with the use of refrigeration equipment in this area of food," said spokesmen.
As part of future work, it is planned to begin the study of the document under the tutelage of the Chamber, which has assumed the commitment to lead the committee within the framework of the current agreement with the Institute. This work will be carried out through the figure of the Technical Secretariat for Standardization, an outsourced coordination of activities that guarantees efficiency and quality in the work carried out.
A highlight is the broad participation of various areas and institutions in this process. The new committee has representatives of academia, production unions, Sedeco, the guild of professionals, as well as regulatory authorities in the field of food, ensuring a comprehensive and collaborative vision in the creation of the new regulation.
"The National Institute of Technology, Standardization and Metrology recognizes and values the excellent results obtained in previous years in the collaboration with the Chamber. An outstanding example is the Standard that contemplates the requirements of indoor air quality in health facilities, managed by the Chamber during the COVID-19 pandemic. This advance represents a significant milestone in the promotion of quality and safety standards in the cold chain of food products, highlighting the commitment and collaboration of all parties involved in this important standardization process," the official entity added.
