Chile. Emergent Cold Latin America has announced the expansion of its El Olivo temperature-controlled facility, located in Maipú, within the metropolitan region of Santiago de Chile.
With this expansion, the facility's capacity will triple, with 32,000 pallet positions using ASRS (Automated Storage and Retrieval System) technology. This automation improves efficiency, energy use and safety in the handling of food products, offering an innovative approach within the industry.
Joaquín Del Campo, Emergent Cold LatAm's Managing Director for the Pacific Region, stated: "This expansion reinforces our commitment to the development of logistics infrastructure in Chile and our dedication to providing innovative solutions for our customers. Implementing automation technologies in medium-sized warehouses allows us to increase operational efficiency and strengthens our position as the leading provider of temperature-controlled food logistics solutions, not only in the Chilean market but throughout the region."
The expansion of the El Olivo facility is part of Emergent Cold LatAm's strategic growth plan in Chile, a region vital to the company's operations. The company is also expanding its newly opened warehouse in Talcahuano, the country's largest cold storage facility. Currently, the capacity is 37,000 pallets, with an additional 12,000 positions to be added. Another achievement for the company's operations in Chile is the EDGE Zero Carbon certification awarded to the San Pedro de La Paz warehouse, the first temperature-controlled food storage facility in the world to receive this recognition for sustainable operations.
