International. Manufacturer Copeland highlighted that it is a single-stage heat pump designed to decarbonize district heating and industrial process heating applications, including food and beverage production.
With the launch of the Vilter VQ95 industrial heat pump, Copeland adds a platform of scalable options to its industrial heating market portfolio. The system leverages Vilter's single-screw technology to enable unprecedented simplicity, performance, reliability and flexibility using ammonia (NH3), a natural refrigerant solution that has a low global warming potential (GWP).
"The Vilter VQ95 heat pump eliminates the complexities traditionally associated with the application of industrial heat pumps," said Grant Kovac, director of product management for Vilter industrial solutions for Copeland. "We focus on striking the perfect balance between a standard and configurable product and enough flexibility to maximize the best fit and performance coefficient for each unique application. To date, the market response has been overwhelmingly positive and we look forward to helping our customers achieve their sustainability goals with this modular, ready-to-use solution."
Because the heat supplied far exceeds the energy consumed, industrial heat pumps greatly reduce dependence on fossil fuels and expand opportunities to use renewable energy sources. Copeland's Vilter VQ95 industrial heat pump system balances these features with a compact size, while maximizing efficiency and minimizing total cost of ownership.
According to the company, the system is designed to be intuitive and easy to use to operate and maintain. The unit's modular plug-and-play design has fewer moving parts than multi-stage units, and maintenance can often be performed without removing the compressor from the system. Selection and configuration are simplified using Copeland's web-based software tool.
In addition, it has a high performance coefficient and lifting capabilities, often eliminating the need for multi-stage systems while also helping to reduce overall costs. The single-screw compressor offers industrial-grade performance and reliability. The pump is a single-stage, closed-loop NH3 system. By removing the oil pump, one of the most common causes of failure is eliminated.
The Vilter VQ95 industrial heat pump is available in two compact sizes that support over 2000 standard configurations, providing higher capacity per platform, potentially meeting application requirements with fewer units. With a heating capacity of 1 to 5 MW per platform, its modularity allows systems to be scaled with piping connections in parallel or in series, allowing capacity to be scaled as needed. In addition, it provides a high standard temperature rating of up to 95°C with high lifting capacity in a single-stage system.
