Mexico. Trane announced the expansion of its production plant in Monterrey, Nuevo León, which consisted of an expansion of 10 thousand square meters for the manufacture of products for the residential sector aimed at the U.S. market.
"This expansion represents a 40% growth in exports to the United States and the possibility of generating more than 200 new jobs in the region," said Daniel Córdova, director of the Trane Monterrey plant.
The expansion adds to the nearshoring phenomenon in terms of foreign investment in the state of Nuevo León, in which around 30% of the projects are focused on the manufacturing industry¹; In addition, historically, the state has been the preferred destination for foreign companies for the manufacture of industrial and commercial air conditioning, heating and refrigeration equipment, which have invested more than one billion dollars since 1999².
"This project also reinforces the global team's confidence in the high quality standards and the ability of our team and facilities to meet market expectations. With this expansion we will be able to meet the growing demand for our products and services inside and outside the country, in addition to creating new jobs and boosting the local economy," said Córdova.
The investment for this expansion amounts to 18 million dollars and is focused on adapting the facilities for the manufacture of a residential package of 3 to 5 tons, a piece of equipment in high demand in the United States, but which was previously manufactured in the eastern part of the neighboring country.
"The geographical location of our plant places us right in the middle of the United States, this will allow us to distribute this product to any part of the country in a more strategic way," added Daniel Córdova, who also serves as president of the Nuevo León Appliance Cluster.
The entry of this new product also opens the door to the Mexican plant, to the residential market, since it was mainly focused on the manufacture of compressors from 4 to 300 tons, scroll and screw type; as well as the manufacture of Split type air conditioning units and package system in low and high tonnages, both focused on the commercial and light commercial market.
The expansion of the manufacturing facility will allow Trane to increase production of its products and services, leading to shorter lead times for customers and a more efficient supply chain.
