Colombia. The provider of temperature-controlled storage and logistics solutions announced that it will immediately expand the facilities of the Colombian company Red Polar, located in Bogota.
In this way, Emergent Cold will have a state-of-the-art facility in the short term, with a positioning capacity of 25,000 pallets, strengthening its presence in the capital of Colombia and benefiting the customers of both businesses depending on the objectives of their supply chain.
"Colombia is an essential part of our regional strategy", said David Palfenier, president of Emergent Cold Latin America. "We see a growing agricultural industry and strong local demand for higher-quality perishable food products. These trends support our thesis that Colombia is a great market for investment in modern cold chain infrastructure. Red Polar is a well-run business and a great location for our expansion project in Bogota".
This is Emergent Cold LatAm's second acquisition in Colombia. In 2022, the company acquired Frigorífico Metropolitano (Frigometro), a national cold storage network with facilities in four strategic locations across the country.
Founded in 2017, Red Polar operates a single cold storage facility in the municipality of Funza. The Red Polar team will remain in business, in articulation with Emergent Cold LatAm's operational experience and practices.
"With this additional capacity in a strategic location, we can now manage more inventory and with greater flexibility. Once our planned expansion is complete, Emergent Cold will be uniquely suited to meet the supply chain needs of our customers in the Bogota region and surrounding cities", said Alain Eichmann, CEO of the company.
