Peru. Frioteam, a Peruvian company dedicated to the maintenance of industrial refrigeration systems, has just made official the appointment of Engineer Harold Guanilo, as its general manager.
The company indicated through the social network LinkedIn that Guanilo "assumes this challenge backed by solid experience, with the mission of strengthening our leadership in the region."
The new manager of Frioteam graduated from the National University of Engineering of Peru and is a specialist in Refrigeration & Automation Systems. In dialogue with ACR Latin America, he referred to the professional challenge he undertakes from now on.
What does it mean for you to take over the management of a company like Frioteam?
Frioteam is part of the Friopacking group, which has a solid presence in Peru and also operates in countries such as Mexico, Honduras, Colombia and Ecuador. Therefore, it is a great challenge to lead a team with so much expertise.
In addition, it generates a huge expectation to be able to share with outstanding professionals of the sector, who are part of the company. I am convinced that working together we will achieve the goals and I am excited to contribute to the growth of Frioteam with the experience acquired during my career.
What initiatives or projects will you seek to carry out in your new position?
We are establishing strategic and sustainable alliances with prestigious manufacturers, in order to access components and equipment in less time and at a lower cost for our customers. We also work to homologate ourselves and establish an authorized workshop, where we can provide services with the same level of quality offered by the factories.
This way we will increase the reliability and guarantee of our services. In addition, we want to be the first Peruvian company to build a rack of compressors operated with CO2 in the transcritical phase. That would be the initial phase of a training center to share all our know-how on natural gas refrigeration systems.
How is Frioteam planning to maintain and consolidate its presence in the Peruvian market?
We want to lead our sector and, to achieve this, we are preparing a group that already works in the company and incorporating outstanding professionals who will join this objective.
We seek to consolidate ourselves in the industry, mainly in agriculture and fishing. We are also entering the retail sector to carry out projects related to refrigeration systems for supermarkets, picking centers and dark stores, which are the three formats that have gained ground in that sector.
All this will be accompanied by management through software and platforms that allow us to be efficient and meet consulting requirements, projects, supplies, facilities and after-sales service of excellence.
Another goal we have in the Friopacking group is to expand throughout South America to participate in tenders and regional processes.
If you had to mention the main challenge facing the HVAC/R industry in the near future, what would this be?
The immediate challenge is to prepare for the implementation of CO2 systems in the transcritical phase, which will be a boom in the retail and industrial sectors. The variety of alternatives with CO2 grows daily and Peru is no stranger to it. These systems have had good performance and, therefore, a good acceptance among end users.
The other thing is that companies have initiated retrofit processes, consisting of replacing refrigerants that damage the ozone layer or contribute to global warming. Since governments set deadlines, more technical personnel are needed to meet the demand for refrigerant migration in different HVAC/R systems.
