ABRAVA launched a primer on good refrigeration practices

ABRAVA lanzó una cartilla

Brazil. The National Refrigeration Department of ABRAVA (Brazilian Association of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, Ventilation and Heating), launched a booklet that presents information on the application of good practices, with simple language and technical scores related to refrigeration systems.

This launch took place last February during the webinar "Refrigeration and its relationship with energy efficiency". An event that brought together specialists in the field, professionals and the customer sector, including managers and technicians from companies that use refrigeration.

The event was attended by Arnaldo Basile, president of ABRAVA; Renato Majarão representative of Danfoss and president of DN Refrigeração; Marcos Almeida representative of Emerson and Vice President of DN, Luiz Villaça representative of RAC Brazil and member of DN; Luciano Marcato representative of Daikin and president of the Energy Efficiency Committee of ABRAVA; and Marcel Siqueira, manager of the National Program for the Conservation of Electric Energy of Eletrobras.

During the opening of the webinar, President Basile indicated that "DN Refrigeração is now one of the most participatory of ABRAVA. I congratulate all those involved in the preparation of this booklet, with excellent content, being an example for companies and professionals concerned about skilled labor in HVAC-R, energy efficiency, environment and investments in knowledge. These actions demonstrate ESG in practice in our industry."

In that sense, the president of DN Refrigeração, Renato Majarão, commented: "Our goal with this brochure is to disseminate information about the relationship between cooling and energy efficiency, considering environments that use refrigeration equipment. We hope that the booklet will circulate throughout the country and contribute to small and medium-sized enterprises, through information and recommended good practices, being able to conduct their business in a sustainable manner considering financial and environmental aspects."

The primer
The work of preparing the booklet was coordinated by the Vice President of the DN, Marcos Almeida, who during the webinar told how the content was developed and the challenges faced to meet the objective of the publication. According to Almeida, the development of the brochure also took into account the target audience, that is, professionals working in the field in the refrigeration sector, but in particular, small and medium-sized companies that use refrigeration, such as supermarkets, bakeries, butchers, bars and restaurants, among others.

The booklet was presented by Luiz Villaça, responsible for technical support throughout the process, who highlighted the professionals involved and the structure of the content of the publication. Likewise, Villaça conceptualized the characteristics of cold in refrigeration and stressed that "energy efficiency in refrigeration is the generation of the same cold, with lower energy consumption", since the proposal is to draw the attention of small and medium-sized companies to the financial and environmental impacts of energy efficiency in refrigeration.

"Electric power is a scarce and expensive commodity, and considering the use of equipment that has a better energy performance is the first step to consider for energy and economic savings. Not to mention the environmental contribution when considering the reduction of secondary emissions of substances that contribute to global warming, from energy generation," added Villaça.

In general, this initiative has the support of the entities ABRAFAC, ABRAFRIGO, ABRAS, ABRASEL, APAS, IBF, PROCEL, SINDICANE, SINDRATAR SP and SMACNA. And financial support from Bitzer, Chemours, Danfoss, DeltaFrio, Emerson, Frigelar, JC-Hitachi, Mayekawa, Montreal, RAC Brazil and Tecumseh.
