United States. Victaulic announced the acquisition of a 220,000-square-foot (20,438 m2) Waupaca Foundry production facility located in Lawrenceville, Pennsylvania. Operating fully, the facility will increase foundry production capacity by 70 percent in the U.S. and enable future growth as Victaulic's business demands grow. The facility, which includes two casting lines, will also allow the plant to manufacture products on a larger scale.
"The addition of the Waupaca foundry in Lawrenceville will provide the scale and capability needed to continue our development plans and, first and foremost, serve our valued North American customers. In addition, Victaulic is doing its part to add vital manufacturing jobs within Pennsylvania," said John F. Malloy, president of Victaulic. "An important aspect of our business strategy has always been to manufacture products close to our customers."
Victaulic anticipates the creation of new jobs in Tioga County in the near future. Many of the new positions are expected to be filled with local talent from the area's skilled workforce. The new hires will join Victaulic's current team of more than 1,600 Pennsylvania employees and approximately 4,500 people worldwide.
"Victaulic's investment in Tioga County is a testament to the incredible track record of growth, vision and passion for the communities it serves," said State Rep. Clint Owlett. "I look forward to welcoming this family business with Roots in Pennsylvania to our community along with the jobs it will bring to our hardworking residents."
Victaulic, headquartered in Easton, Pennsylvania, USA, has nearly a thousand employees in the Lehigh Valley, and remains one of the largest employers of steel workers in the region, with plants in Northampton and Lehigh counties.
In addition, the company is nearing completion of an additional 400,000 square foot facility for light assembly operations in Lower Nazareth, Pennsylvania, which is expected to be fully operational in 2021.
