International. Dow announces a new generation of low-volatility, low-cycle silicone surfactants that support innovative rigid polyurethane foam formulations that address key energy efficiency and sustainability trends in cold chain devices.
"Our innovations address the strong demands of the additive and surfactant industry that support customers to achieve emerging performance, sustainability and profitability challenges in the rigid polyurethane foam space," said Justin Weare, North American polyurethane additive marketing manager at Dow. "We continue to expand our industry-leading portfolio of polyurethane additives, combining unparalleled polyurethane knowledge, technical customer support capabilities and the strongest silicone chemical history in the industry."
The additive Vorasurf RF 5374 is the choice of the formulator that achieves high lateral solubility of polyol, mix stability and clarity, when the complex design of the cabinet requires improved flow and good aesthetics in applications that demand high insulation performance, such as refrigeration appliances for cold chain, commercial and domestic solutions.
The Vorasurf RF 5382 additive offers improved system compatibility to help maximize the insulation performance of pentane-blown rigid foams, helping to address the demanding energy efficiency criteria in cold chain devices and installations.
The Vorasurf RF 5388 additive helps formulators to essentially meet all the desired properties of foam systems for household appliances, with increased solubility in pentane, excellent flow and exceptional surface aesthetics to avoid coating defects in domestic or commercial refrigerators and freezers.
The additive Vorasurf SF 2937 supports the improved k-factor in continuous filling, continuous panel, closed-cell aerosol polyurethane insulation foam and polyisocyanurate (PIR), suitable for use with a variety of traditional and more sustainable blowing agents (HC, HFO, HFC and water systems).
These innovations add to Dow's portfolio of silicone surfactants for rigid foams, which include grades recognized as a global industry standard: Vorasurf DC 5604 additive, Vorasurf DC 193 additive and Vorasurf DC 5357 additive.
