Five Social Media Tips for HVAC Contractors

International. Carrier Enterprise published a series of recommendations for contractors to turn to social media and know how they can interact with their customers.

By following these five social media tips, you can build your online audience, foster engagement, and grow your brand.

Create unique content
One of the most important things to keep in mind when creating social media content is that people are scrolling through your sources in search of something interesting to read. This means that you need to find eye-catching and unique images and videos to post that make people stop scrolling.

Engage your audience
To be successful with your social media efforts, you need to engage your followers. One of the best ways to do this is to share content that directly relates to your needs. Position yourself as the industry expert and offer solutions to common problems. Remind your customers of the need for seasonal service, share helpful tips that help solve common problems, but be careful not to seem too self-promotional. Share articles from trusted resources in the industry and be sure to tag them in your post. Another great way to use social media is to give your customers a look at your business. Share employee spotlights or videos of successful installations. Anything that can provide a personality and an inside look at what sets you apart from others. You also don't always have to share posts about HVAC. Think outside the box and share content that you know suits your customers' lifestyle and interests.

Too often, brands will receive feedback on their posts, but they will never respond to them. The goal of social media is to build trust among your customers, which means that two-way communication is crucial. Spend a few minutes each day interacting with your followers, giving them helpful HVAC tips or just acknowledging their feedback. This will increase your authenticity and trust factor.

Organize a contest
People love to win contests, which makes them a great option to improve their engagement. Organize a sweepstakes by giving away something of value, such as concert tickets or a free HVAC inspection. Designate the criteria that must be followed for someone to enter the sweepstakes, such as posting a creative image and tagging your company or sharing your post, and then randomly selecting a winner.

Forget about selling
Social media is all about humanizing your brand, which means it's not the place to boost your services. While you can talk about them occasionally, try to start conversations about current issues and other things that may interest your followers. It's about starting the conversation any way you can.

While you may not initially think about building a social media presence as an HVAC contractor, it's an important part of any successful business in today's internet-powered world. By investing a little time in chatting and interacting with your followers, you can become your HVAC contractor for life.
