United States. Grundfos Pumps Corporation announced that all Grundfos and PACO branded products sold in the U.S. currently meet or exceed the Energy Conservation Standards for clean water pumps set forth by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
Test facilities located in Brookshire, Texas and Bjerringbro, Denmark, have been audited and approved by the Hydraulic Institute to ensure test procedures and equipment meet DOE and HI 40.7 standards.
New efficiency standards set by the U.S. DOE are expected to significantly reduce energy consumption, with an estimated 25 percent of pumps currently sold on the market not meeting the new requirements. Effective January 27, 2020, all pumps sold in the U.S. that are within range will be required to be labeled with a PEI rating that complies with the new standard.
"I believe our greatest opportunities for environmental sustainability exist within the areas of pump efficiency and energy consumption," said Dieter Sauer, regional managing director for the Americas region. "Pumps account for 10 percent of the world's electricity consumption and a vast majority of these pumps are not optimized for their application and therefore waste energy. Technology is a critical component within our Grundfos product lines and offers our customers various means to conserve water and use energy more efficiently. We are proud to continually strive to solve the challenge of energy consumption."
