International. Carrier Enterprise published a list of recommendations for improving indoor air quality and the options available to achieve this.
"One of the hardest parts of selling products that clean customers' indoor air is starting the conversation," said Josh Pulis of Air Knight. After examining the weather inside your client's home, and talking to them about their problems, you can select one (or more) of these five ways to improve your indoor air quality.
Filter air with air filters and purifiers
Standalone air filters and purifiers are one of the most convenient ways to improve air quality in your customer's home. They come in many sizes, varieties and energy capacities, so you can select one that fits in a convenient place while effectively handling the amount of air in space. By using highly qualified filters, a standalone air purifier is able to trap and remove most mold, pollen, dust, viruses and bacteria particles in the air.
Air filter upgrade with higher MERV ranges
If your customer wants a quick and easy solution, improving the air filters that are integrated into your HVAC system is the best option. By selecting air filters with a higher MERV range, you will be able to provide your customers with complete filtration against allergens and harmful microbial substances.
Ensure adequate humidity levels with humidifiers and dehumidifiers
Indoor air quality is greatly affected by the humidity level. In some homes, the humidity will be too low, and in others, it will be too high. Fortunately, there is a solution for both:
- Dry air - With a humidifier, you can easily remedy air that is too dry. By adding controlled moisture, you can give your clients the air that will help them breathe easily instead of drying out their skin, nasal passages, and sinuses.
- Moist air - When there is too much moisture, a lot of other problems arise, such as the growth of mold and bacteria. With a dehumidifier, you can effortlessly remove excess moisture in the air to return it to the ideal level for optimal health.
Kill germs with UV lights
If your customers are serious about improving their indoor air quality, a germicidal UV light is an excellent addition to a high-quality air filtration system. Instead of just filtering out toxins and bad substances, a UV light will actually kill them. Many UV lights also include IPG (Ionized Particle Gathering) technology, which encourages positive and negative ions in the air to gather, which will improve the efficiency of the existing HVAC system tenfold. Josh Pulis, of Air Knight, said: "Germicidal UV lights keep the customer's cooling coil clean and free of build-up which will reduce system efficiency over time."
Let in fresh air with a fan
In many homes, it is almost impossible to properly eradicate rancid indoor air and replace it with fresh outdoor air. This causes harmful pollutants and unpleasant odors to get trapped in the home. With a fan, the air exchange can be completed with ease, making sure that fresh air is coming in and old air is coming out.
