International. Helping commissioning providers ensure optimized operation for their systems and facilities is the focus of the recent guidance published by ASHRAE.
ASHRAE Guide 0.2-2015, Commissioning Process for Existing Buildings and Assemblies, outlines a systematic quality-oriented process that improves the performance and sustainability of existing facilities. This roadmap includes planning, evaluation, research, implementation, verification and documentation of performance to meet operational requirements.
"Guide 0.2 provides commissioning providers with new instruments needed to address the growing market for commissioning existing buildings that require improvements to reduce energy consumption, improve occupant comfort and increase operational efficiency," said Tom Cappellin, vice chairman of the committee that wrote the guide.
The step-by-step process guides facility owners and managers through the process of ensuring optimal efficiency of their facilities with the lowest investment and provides the tools to ensure lasting benefits over the life of the building.
Guide 0.2 is designed to be used by owners, decision makers and commissioning providers seeking to achieve the objectives identified by owners as "current facility requirements".
