United States. Ingersoll Rand announced at the White House Hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) Roundtable progress on its Climate Commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in its products and operations by 2030.
Ingersoll Rand's commitment includes by 2020, reducing its Greenhouse Gas (GHG) footprint by 50% and by 2030 incorporating alternatives through its portfolio of solutions for reducing global warming potential (GWP).
Invest US$500 million in research and product development over the next five years to finance long-term GHG emissions reductions.
Reduce the GHG footprint in the company's operations by 35% by 2020.
At the White House event, the company shared that Thermo King products for trailers, motor carriers and marine refrigeration with high performance and low GWP, will be available to U.S. customers in 2017, pending the approval of the Significant New Alternatives (SNAP) Policies of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
In addition, the high-performance alternatives of the Trane chiller portfolio will be available in the U.S. by the end of 2018, depending on commercial availability in receiving SNAP approval to select new refrigerants.
This second annual roundtable with industry leaders at the White House focused on reducing hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) emissions. In 2014, 22 private sector companies made HFC commitments to avoid generating 700 million metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) by 2025. During the 2015 event, companies like Ingersoll Rand will report on their progress and highlight new commitments.
