United States. A group of eight associations linked to the HVAC, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration industry came together to form a foundation that increases industry awareness, attracts new members to the workforce and improves the quality of available workforce.
The foundation will focus on industry, as well as federal and state departments of education and labor and careers or technical education programs. It will also educate high school principals, counselors, and teachers about career prospects in the HVAC/R industry.
The entities belonging to this foundation are U.S. Air Conditioning Contractors, the Institute of Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration; the Air Control and Movement Association; the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers; International Distributors of Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration; the Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute of Canada; the Association of Heating-Cooling Plumbing Contractors, and the Refrigeration Engineers Services Society.
"This foundation represents the industry's effort to promote education, projects and partnerships that attract committed and skilled employees to the industry, who offer a great career and we want more people to be a part of it," said Stephen Yurek, president and CEO of the Institute for Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration.
