The company explains in a statement that the results of this first year of application revealed that the 1,300 Hilton Worldwide properties that used it, conserved enough energy to supply it to 5,700 homes, in addition to saving so much water that 650 Olympic swimming pools could be filled, and the carbon emission was equivalent to 34,865 cars having stopped circulating.
The use of LightStay has helped establishments to reduce energy consumption by 5%, CO2 emission by 6% and waste by 10%, as well as water consumption by 2.4% last year, compared to 2008.
Christopher Nassetta, president and CEO of Hilton Worldwide, said that with this method the company seeks to mitigate its impact on the environment and the communities where they operate, in addition to creating economic value for their owners and offering better guest experiences.
