In the Veladre mine in San Juan, Argentina, according to Guinness records, the tallest wind turbine in the world is located, called D8.2. and supplies energy to the entire mine.
The wind turbine weighs 229 tons and has a structure of 100.5 meters, is built at 4,110 meters above sea level. It is capable of reaching a capacity of 2 MW and has been in operation since November 2007 when the Barrick company invested almost $ 7 million to buy it and move it from Germany and then install it in extreme conditions on site.
The clean energy generated by this wind turbine guarantees a very low impact on the environment, 26 times less than a coal-fired generator, 21 times less than an oil generator and 10 times less than a nuclear one.
