Gorona del Viento El Hierro has been invited, this weekend, of the cycle of conferences of Bioterra 2011, held in Guipúzcoa. The El Hierro Hydro-Wind Power Plant was unveiled at the International Fair of the Basque Coast (Ficoba), dedicated on this occasion to the sectors of organic production, bioconstruction, renewable energies and responsible consumption, among other topics.
Under the title 'El Hierro, a clean and Sustainable Island', was exposed, according to a press release, the self-sufficiency project of Herreño, its antecedents, current and future situation of the Hydro-Wind Power Plant, before a mostly professional public of the energy sector at an international level, as reported in a statement by the public company.
The possibilities offered by this innovative experience based on achieving a greater penetration of renewable energies in isolated electrical systems, was one of the most discussed topics among the professionals who met there. In addition, the public has valued the doors that open in the Canary Islands to new tourist customers with the dissemination of projects of scientific interest such as the one carried out in El Hierro.
Bioterra, held in Irún, has brought together other topics related to energy efficiency such as the relationship between 'Supply and Demand', presented by José María Campos, representative of Spain in the energy conservation program in buildings and urban areas of the International Energy Agency, or the 'Dependence and energy debt of the territories', by Martín Mantxo, Member of the Ecological Debt Commission of Ekologistak Martxan.
On the other hand, the workshops of geobiology and bioconstruction, cooking with organic food or efficient driving, completed the activities organized for the event that had the participation of a hundred exhibitors. (EUROPA PRESS)
