During 2010 Yale University in the United States, made a list of the greenest countries in the world based on the Environmental Performance Index of each country. It does not mean that they are the cleanest countries, they are countries that make great efforts to take care of the environment and work hard to reduce carbon emissions.
1. Iceland – is the country that most protects the environment in every way.
2. Switzerland – this country is a model to follow in its environmental policies and the protection and conservation of green spaces.
3. Costa Rica – they have worked very hard to counteract the negative effect they have had throughout their history on deforestation.
4. Sweden – aim by 2020 to use wind and offshore energy as the country's largest energy resources.
5. Norway – the government is willing and confident that by 2030 they will not emit more gases.
6. Mauritius – the efforts and way of life on this small island to take care of the environment are admirable.
7. France – France is one of the countries that most promote renewable energies, they are also implementing organic farms everywhere and creating natural reserves.
8. Austria – the government promotes all its citizens to have gardens with fruit trees, flowers, etc.
9. Cuba – have made an effort not to use the use of toxic pesticides in the field so as not to contaminate the soil, instead using organic products on farms.
10. Colombia – the government has decreased deforestation by a large percentage and protects national parks and green areas.
