Every year, in Valdivia, during the celebrations of the Valdivian Night, the Municipality of the commune throws to the Valdivia and Calle rivers, 10,000 candles in plastic cups and / or waxed paper, which are subsequently not removed, causing a process of pollution that affects the waters and the banks of these water courses that will give to the sea, in the Bay of Corral.
The maritime authority, the body in charge of supervising and punishing those who throw toxic substances into the waters of Chile's rivers, lakes and sea, turns a blind eye and covers up this situation that is repeated every year with impunity. The mayor of Valdivia does not respond to the letters sent to him on this matter and the Port Captaincy does nothing about it either.
