The regional government will continue working to achieve greater energy efficiency, with the implementation of an energy management process in public buildings dependent on the regional government in such a way that a reduction of around 20 percent of current consumption is achieved. In addition, it will work to ensure that in 2012 100 percent of the electricity consumption carried out in the region can be generated in an equivalent way through the use of renewable energies.
This is clear from the meeting held in Albacete by fifty businessmen, technicians and researchers from the University linked to the energy sector to analyze the energy policy being carried out by the regional executive in recent years and see the proposals that in this matter can be reflected in the program with which the president of Castilla-La Macnha, José María Barreda, will attend the next elections, the PSOE has reported in a press release.
In this meeting were present the general director of Industry, Benito Montiel and the provincial delegate of the Ministry, Emilio Sáez. Thus, the first of them has ensured that the Government of Castilla-La Mancha has set itself as two main objectives to be met in terms of energy those mentioned above.
Likewise, he pointed out that currently 86.9 percent of the electricity consumption of the Castilian-Manchego is already supplied with renewable energies so it is "perfectly acceptable" the commitment to reach 100 percent by 2012.
In addition, it points out that in terms of energy saving and efficiency policy, the regional government, in the period 2000-2010, has invested more than 5,500 million euros in wind farms promoting the creation of 10,000 direct jobs.
To this has been added that 11.2 million have been allocated to energy efficiency policies with the implementation of new management systems and with more than 300 audits carried out in public buildings, being pending for the coming years up to 500 new audits.
In the same way, he said that the commitment of the regional government and its president, José María Barreda, to the environment and sustainable development has meant reducing the emission of more than 770,000 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.
All this, with the implementation of actions in low-consumption public lighting in 500 municipalities with an investment of 19.2 million euros, new equipment, financing of infrastructures for the recharging of public transport powered by alternative energies and improvement plans in the communities of irrigators for energy saving, among other actions.
