In Guadalajara, one of Mexico's largest cities, where 350 gasoline cars are added to street traffic every day, there is a serious growing pollution problem.
After making several requests to the local government, which were not resolved, a group of young students from Tec de Monterrey and UdeG joined forces with the organizations GDL en Bici, BiciTec and Ciudad para todos, to create their own Ciclovía Ciudadana.
The citizen bike path is a bicycle lane on Santa Margarita Avenue, which covers 2.5 kilometers between Central Avenue and Aviation Avenue, made by citizens concerned about the environment and the quality of life of the inhabitants of Guadalajara, with only about $ 12,500 Mexican pesos.
This group was given the task of painting and signaling both directions of the bike path or bike path, adding in total 5 kilometers of safe lane for cyclists.
With the help of a tricycle, like those used in Mexico to distribute goods such as tamales, they painted the line that divides the bicycle lane from the car lane. They also placed signs on poles to warn drivers to be careful with cyclists.
The following video explains it best so let's watch it and let's take these young people as an example to make things happen in our cities.
