Mexican designer Fernando Romero, founder of the company LAR, has designed a building for offices and residences with a vision of the country's past. Called the Pyramid Project, the development will be built in Merida, the largest city on the Yucatan Peninsula.
The shape of the building has been inspired by the Mayan pyramids that abound in the region.
The building is connected to its natural surroundings by its façade. The architects have proposed vegetation on all the terraces that will help cool the building naturally. The building will also collect rainwater and solar energy through solar panels to lessen its impact on the environment.
