At the beginning of 2011 (February) the definitive english version of the new video game called "The Fate of the World" was designed by the British Gobion Rowlands, based on scientific, economic and demographic projections, helped by NASA, the UN and the University of Oxford.
The game basically consists of saving the earth from the effects of global warming, it begins when the player is appointed director of theInternational Ecological Organization (OIE) that for the next 200 years directs the planet, saves it or destroys it according to ecological, economic and social policies, leaving in his hands "The destiny of the world".
With this great power, you can do all kinds of things, for example, prohibit the exploitation of the Amazon rainforest, or impose new laws for the use of electric vehicles, the player can see the impact of all his decisions every 5 years, knowing that absolutely everything has consequences, if you decide to reduce the birth rate to avoid overpopulation, then the workforce may be scarce, the retirement age would rise drastically, and the people rebel against your organization.
The fate of the world has received very positive reviews from organizations in defense of the environment, currently there is already a beta version available on the network, only in English, to be able to play the version in Spanish, French or German for example we will have to wait until March 2011.
This game "allows you to experience the kind of decisions we might be confronted with and see that the answers are not easy," said Myles Allen, a global warming expert at the University of Oxford.
The question is only one: Will you be able to help the planet or will you be an agent of destruction?
