The world's fastest electric single-seater race car has made its debut at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. Developed over a period of two and a half years, the Formulec EF01 is a team effort of a number of quality partners such as Segula Matra Technologies who provide the technical coordination, the transmission was developed by the same people behind the Exagon Furtive EGT and the Andros ice racers, the lithium-ion batteries is from Saft and the body developed by the Mercedes GP Petronas team from Formula One.
Ranging from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3 seconds and getting a top speed in excess of 250 km/h, this green coupe is breaking new ground for a new generation of car racing. Saft's lithium-ion battery in combination with the exceptional torque of the two Siemens electric motors provides a running range of 20 to 25 minutes. The car is being seen as the starting point for a Formulec series with more than a dozen events on five continents, which will be launched in 2012.
