International. In figures provided by the Photovoltaic Energy Program of the International Energy Agency, in 2015 at least 50 GW of installed photovoltaic capacity were installed in the world, representing an increase of 25% compared to 2014.
The total installed capacity achieved the sum of 230 GW worldwide.
As far as South America is concerned, Chile has installed about 450 MW, along with Honduras (389 MW), but also Guatemala and Uruguay are below 100 MW. Other Latin American markets are expected to develop, especially Brazil, in the coming years.
In North America, the US market continued to grow and reached 7.3 GW in 2015. Canada (600 MW) and, to a lesser extent, Mexico (103 MW) are also making progress.
A broken record is the largest installed capacity in a single country: China has surpassed the all-time record: Germany, and now leads the pace with 43.6 GW compared to 39.7 GW in the European country.
