Dominican Republic. The National Energy Commission (CNE) received the proposal for the draft energy efficiency law, delivered by Akihiko Yamada, representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Juan Rodríguez Nina, executive director of the CNE, thanked JICA for its great contribution to the nation. For him, the implementation of the law will help the country to continue to increase its economic and productive capacity.
He explained that the energy efficiency roadmap has been drawn up, the implementation of which is part of an agreement between JICA and IDB covering Central America and the Caribbean. The objective is the Co-financing of energy efficiency and renewable energies (CORE Scheme).
The proposal was prepared by international consultants hired by JICA. It was an official request of the Government and had the support of the technical staff of the CNE. In addition, consultation processes with relevant actors in the field were exhausted.
It provides a normative and regulatory framework for the incentive regime, promotion of technologies and consumption habits.
In the same way, the elaboration of public policies and programs aimed at the efficient and rational use of energy. This is in an attempt to establish the obligations and responsibilities of related sectors.
