Germany. A CO2 cooling system reduced energy consumption at the German supermarket Sky by 30%, according to its technical director Holger Woyciechowski.
The store used a solution that is based on cascading technology with Danfoss ADAP-KOOL® controls, and CO2 regulation valves for freezers; R134a refrigerant is being used for refrigeration units and cold rooms.
"We have achieved savings and now we want to go further and get more savings in other equipment. During 2013 and 2014, we plan to replace existing systems, some between 10 and 15 years old, with new technology, and thus save energy," said Woyciechowski.
With the implementation of CO2 as a refrigerant, Sky said it has obtained savings of 36,000 euros per year.
