Spain. The Ecotic Foundation reported that during 2012 it managed to manage a total of 1,647,792 kilograms of waste from air conditioning equipment throughout the country.
The figure is 21% higher compared to the results of 2011, the populations of Andalusia, with 665,230 kilograms, Madrid (377,573 kilograms) and Catalonia (246,434 kilograms) are the ones that contribute the most waste, thanks to the different local plans for renovation and replacement of equipment through economic aid.
Under the ECOinstallers program, the companies that integrate it have also contributed a total of 403,757 kilograms to the global calculation, that is, an increase in the waste collected of 22% compared to the first version completed in 2011.
According to the company, with this program "we seek to recognize the commitment of those installers and companies that contribute the largest amounts of waste from air conditioning equipment, through an accrediting seal that certifies their responsible action, and their contribution to sustainability and the environment."
