International. A group of scientists estimates that olive bones could stop being a waste to become an alternative that generates energy and heating.
According to the researchers, out of every 100 kilos of olives, 5.7 kilos of ethanol can be reached. There are already several examples of this initiative, such as the case of the Hotel & SPA Sierra de Cazorla, in Jaén, Spain, where they modified the gas and diesel of all their heating boilers by olive bones, which have a refrigeration supply of 4,700 kW / h per kilogram.
This initiative makes it possible to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 80%. In the residential sector, this culture is also being implemented, which has generated energy savings of up to 70%.
For this combustion, almond and pine pineapple peels, chips or cherry bones are also being used.
