Uruguay. The Uruguayan Government has determined through Decree 325 the ideal conditions in which call center workers should perform, in order to avoid physical and psychological problems.
Because it is one of the activities that has grown the most in the South American country, the provision regulates the ambient humidity and the temperature at which the office air conditioning must be turned on.
The ambient temperature in the workplaces should be between 20 and 26 degrees Celsius in winter season, and between 20 and 24 degrees Celsius in summer. In addition, the air velocity cannot exceed 0.2 meters per second, according to article 8 of the decree.
Other aspects such as chairs and rest time between calls are also included in the decree, which will be supervised by the General Labor Inspectorate.
