United States. The recently opened Omni Dallas Hotel (November 2011) received the LEED Gold Category Certification, which lists it as the largest establishment in that country that has this recognition and is located outside of Las Vegas.
Certification as a New Construction was possible due to a development and execution plan with the inclusion of recycled materials, pollution reduction, conservation strategies and water savings.
"The remarkable efforts presented by each team member meant a hand in keeping the project focused on sustainability which has led to the achievement of this important development." We are thrilled with this recognition and look forward to continuing to be a sustainability leader in the hospitality segment," said Ed Netzhammer, Managing Director of The Omni Dallas Hotel.
Some of the features of the buildings include:
- Sunroof materials feature reflection indices to help counteract the effects of heat;
- The hotel reduces the amount of rainwater lost to runoff, by means of a 25,000-liter cistern to store rainwater and use it as a means of irrigation instead of city water. The property has a rain garden designed to help with runoff. The water softener system is linked to the cooling tower and reduces the use of water and the use of chemicals.
- The lighting and thermal control has a system that works with the key of the room that is activated or turned off when the client passes it through the ranuna of the door.
The building had previously received other recognitions such as the 2012 Design Award from the Hospitality and Accommodation Industry.
