Latin America. Gabriel Alberto Jiménez Álvarez, general manager of HVAC Consulting, is the first Latin American engineer to receive certification as a Healthcare Facility Design Professional (HFDP) from ASHRAE.
Developed jointly by the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), the American Society of Health Engineering (ASHE) and the American Hospital Association (AHA), the HFDP recognizes professionals the mastery of knowledge to design health institutions, leading them, among other benefits, to carry out projects of better level, so that they can be competitive in international markets.
The certification is achieved after a computerized evaluation in which the knowledge in design and operation of buildings that serve the health sector is valued and, its achievement, demonstrates that people know and understand the medical terminology and operation of these institutions and are able to apply this to the design of air conditioning systems.
"The certificate I have just received gives me greater confidence in carrying out my work and also greater recognition before the market, mainly before clients who often do not have greater elements of judgment when selecting a professional to undertake specialized projects such as hospitals," Gabriel Jimenez Álvarez told ACR LATINOAMERICA.
"Additionally, it is already a fact that the world is globalized and professionals in Latin America are facing new challenges in our region and opportunities in other latitudes every day. Having this type of certification puts us at the level of professionals from countries such as the United States and Europe, because we are measuring ourselves with the same yardstick, therefore we will be more likely to take advantage of the opportunities and be at the level of the new challenges, "added the engineer.
