Europe. Students from all over the world, from the United States to China, competed this year for the Natural Refigeration award. Eurammon announced the winners at its annual general meeting in Frankfurt last November. First place went to Jörg Nickl, who wrote his PhD thesis at the University of Dresden on the "Expander/compressor development in the transcritical refrigeration process with carbon dioxide as a refrigerant".
Christine Junior, from the Carolo-Wilhelmina Technical University of Brunswick, secured second place with her thesis entitled: "Energy evaluation of different concepts in circle R744".
In third place was Arash Soleimani Karimabad, who obtained his degree from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm with his thesis "Experimental research in a system for refrigeration in supermarkets based on carbon dioxide/ammonia".
The three prizes were based on a study on carbon dioxide and were recipients of a total of five thousand dollars.
