Mexico. BSH Home Appliance Group, the home appliance division of the Bosch Group, inaugurated its first refrigerator appliance plant in Mexico, marking a significant milestone in its expansion into the Americas.
The factory represents an investment of more than $5.2 billion Mexican pesos ($260 million dollars) and the creation of up to 1,500 jobs, according to the company.
Construction of the plant, located in Salinas Victoria, Nuevo León, began in the summer of 2022. The facility occupies 430,000 square meters to meet the needs of consumers in the North American market with state-of-the-art technology and sustainable production processes. BSH will manage the factory in a CO2-neutral manner. Initially, the factory has an annual production capacity of more than 300,000 units.
"Our first appliance factory in Mexico marks a strategic milestone. North America is an important growth market for our company and Mexico provides us with the ideal conditions to produce innovative French door undermount cooling appliances from the Bosch and Thermador brands that are specifically tailored to the needs of our consumers," said Andre Piel, COO of BSH Mexico.
This inauguration reaffirms the Bosch Group's commitment in Mexico: "With the start of operations of our 16th site in the country, we already cover all the company's business sectors in terms of manufacturing: mobility, industrial technology, energy and building technology; and consumer goods," said Alexander Firsching, president of Bosch Mexico.
Representatives of the federal and Nuevo León governments, as well as members of industry, chambers, academia and diplomacy gathered to celebrate the opening ceremony and tour the facilities accompanied by Matthias Metz, CEO of BSH Home Appliances Group, Alexander Firsching, president of Bosch Mexico, and Andre Piel, Director of Operations of BSH Mexico. along with other global and regional executives of the German company.
