Colombia. In addition to the 651 m2 reefer storage area with connectivity for 50 containers, Maersk's facilities include a warehouse and a large storage area for full containers.
The new logistics center has 44,000 m2 and is part of the expansions planned in the country with the purpose of offering greater storage and logistics solutions to customers seeking agility and flexibility in their supply chains.
Located in the industrial zone of Tocancipá, the logistics center offers customers access to their containers 47 kilometers north of Bogotá. The strategic location of the site allows for the reduction of additional port and transportation costs, increasing the reliability of the supply chain. In addition, it eliminates waiting times for customers, and ensures the availability of empty containers, thus optimizing operational efficiency and improving responsiveness to demand.
Other services include storage of full and empty containers, consolidation and deconsolidation services, maintenance, repair, preparation and inspection of containers, as well as the return and movement of containers.
"This is an innovative service for the Colombian market, due to its level of infrastructure and service, which will allow greater logistical flexibility to our customers in the country. For us, Colombia continues to be a country with a lot of growth and a growing demand for imports of consumer products, complemented by a constant export of refrigerated fruits and vegetables, food products, textiles, and consumer goods. As a logistics integrator, we continue to invest to expand our capabilities and meet demand with ocean, air and land freight services throughout the area, said Efraín Osorio, Maersk's CEO for Central America, the Andes and the Caribbean.
In line with Maersk's commitment to decarbonize end-to-end supply chains, the logistics center in Tocancipá features LED lighting and perimeter solar lighting. The container yard is completely asphalted and during its construction, sustainable practices were used, such as the reuse of the material excavated on the property.
