Johnson Controls Launches Smart Building Forecasts

Johnson Controls lanza previsiones

International. According to Johnson Controls, technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, IoT and cloud computing will transform the future of these buildings.

The company has highlighted that there is an urgent need to advance sustainable building technology to help meet net-zero targets and have continued growth.

In a paper called The Smart Building of the Future, Johnson Controls outlines how buildings equipped with advanced technologies will contribute to the integration between humans and environmental ecosystems.

"The smart building of the future offers new and more effective ways to help businesses meet critical climate goals, reduce costs, improve day-to-day operations for business growth, and enhance personalized experiences. When a building comes to life with smart technology, all stakeholders benefit from the integrated approach that ultimately creates a healthier, safer and more productive environment," said Vijay Sankaran, chief technology officer at Johnson Controls.

Changes in sight
As building owners work to respond to challenges such as rising energy costs and changing occupancy patterns, sophisticated IoT devices and data analytics and artificial intelligence have become more important than ever.

The report provides building managers with insights into the key technology enablers of advanced smart buildings, including ubiquitous connectivity through cloud-based services at the edge, which breaks down barriers between siloed and integrated devices, enabling real-time information flow.

In addition, AI-enabled buildings will be at the core of the next generation of smart buildings, driving efficiencies, improving the user experience, and enabling breakthroughs in sustainability.

Meanwhile, digital twins enable a continuous feedback loop between the physical and virtual by facilitating the integration of AI, IoT, and cloud technologies to generate strategic recommendations to improve building performance and user experience.

This report builds on the results of a recently announced survey by Johnson Controls and Forrester Consulting, which show widespread acceptance of sustainability as a business priority and strong recognition that partners are essential to meeting sustainability commitments by 2030.

Johnson Controls' contribution
The company has developed a three-step scheme for transforming buildings into strategic assets: design, digitize and implement.

The process begins with the mapping out of solutions that provide efficiency, sustainability, decarbonization and energy transition, in line with customer objectives. Digitalization is then carried out to connect the infrastructure, distributed generation, and grid of buildings, in order to access data and make informed decisions about costs and carbon. Finally, the company's solutions are implemented through a turnkey delivery model.
