Colombia. The cold room owned by Emergent Cold Latin America, located in the city of Bucaramanga, has undergone an expansion in different spaces. The unit has state-of-the-art technology and infrastructure to ensure an optimal cold chain for customers in the food sector.
The expansion adds 4,100 pallet stands to the facility, bringing its capacity to a total of 7,400 stalls for frozen storage. Additionally, cold room services will also begin to be offered, with hundreds of pallet stands available for refrigerated or room temperature products.
To increase profits for its customers, Emergent Cold LatAm has built quick freeze tunnels to complement existing capacity and offices available to customers, making it easier for their "in-house" operation. Through this wide range of benefits, Emergent Cold LatAm can offer a more comprehensive service to companies in the food sector, in order to integrate the different needs of logistics operations in one place.
The expansion in Bucaramanga follows the acquisition by the company, in April of this year, of Frigorífico Metropolitano (Frigómetro), a company in the segment also in Colombia, with four units in key markets throughout the country. Colombia is the fourth largest economy and the third most populous country in Latin America, with direct access to the Atlantic and Pacific oceans and a well-developed port system.
"Colombia is an important country in the global food chain and a fundamental part of our regional expansion strategy," said David Palfenier, president of Emergent Cold LatAm. "We are proud to accelerate the operational capabilities of our facilities for the direct benefit of our customers. We will continue to expand our storage and service capacity in Colombia to meet the needs of the food sector with high quality and consolidate our leadership in the country," adds Palfenier.
