United States. AAON announced that it reached Platinum status in the 2021 Sustainable Tulsa Scor3card verification program. This follows the company's achievements of Platinum in 2020, Gold in 2019 and Bronze in 2018.
The Platinum level requires completion of more than 85 percent of eligible directives. The company reported on material issues in the areas of inclusion and diversity, community resilience, materials management, energy, water, workplace health and safety, and transportation.
The company made remarkable progress in the areas of energy conservation and materials management in the reporting period. In 2020, AAON successfully increased recycling rates year over year by 19%. The company also reduced the intensity of energy use in buildings by 4% through capital improvement projects, such as the addition of new energy-efficient production machinery and the installation of new AAON energy-efficient HVAC equipment at production facilities. An AAON Social and Environmental Governance (ESG) report for 2020 will be published later this year.
"ESG is at the center of our business strategies and corporate citizenship efforts. We are proud to participate in the Sustainable Tulsa Scor3card program and are continually looking for ways to measure and improve our performance in these areas," said Gary Fields, AAON's chief executive officer and president.
