International. Carrier Global Corporation announced that its OptiClean ™ air scrubber and negative pressure machine has been named one of the 100 best inventions of TIME 2020.
The OptiClean™ was developed through an innovation in early 2020 to help hospitals increase their capacity of isolation rooms for infectious patients. TIME included the OptiClean™ in the healthcare category of its annual list that recognizes 100 innovative inventions that are contributing to a better and healthier world.
"We are honored to have TIME recognize optiClean™, a product we developed and brought to market in record time, maintaining strict standards to ensure the highest quality," said Carrier's senior vice president of engineering, Chris Kmetz. "At Carrier we are committed to doing our part to develop smart, sustainable and efficient solutions that will address our most critical needs."
At the beginning of the pandemic, Carrier invented the OptiClean™ as an air-negative machine for hospitals treating COVID-19 patients to help them protect their caregivers, workers, and patients. The OptiClean™ can be connected to standard wall outlets and takes up less than three square feet.
As an air scrubber, the OptiClean™ improves the indoor air quality of classrooms, restaurants, doctors' offices, commercial buildings and more, recirculating air, purifying it with a HEPA filter and delivering much cleaner air to the room, reducing air pollutants in the air and offering greater protection as part of an overall mitigation strategy.
The OptiClean™ is one of the solutions offered through Carrier's Healthy Buildings Program, an expanded set of advanced solutions to help provide healthy and safe indoor environments, resulting in more efficiency and productivity.
